Good morning,

My name is Victoria Riley, I work with the Department of Transportation & Active Transit (TIR), along with The Department of Infrastructure & Housing (NS Lands), together, we have created The Black Youth Development & Mentorship Program (BYDMP). We are looking to hire 20 Black youth across the province, who are currently registered in grade 11 and 12 who wish to pursue studies at university or community college. We are looking to give the youth hands on experience and exposure within provincial government and mentorship throughout the program and afterwards; the program will run for 8-10 weeks, full-time paid employment. We have a range of employment opportunities that will be of interest for many Black youth from trades, engineering, public policy, finance and so on. One of our main objectives is to eliminate barriers for our Black youth, and encourage them to think of a career in the public sector.

I have attached the program overview, a flyer, the FAQ sheet, a list of opportunities to this email. There is also a blank resume, cover letter and an example of a cover letter. We want to ensure our youth have the best opportunity to be employed with us throughout their studies each summer.

The application deadline is: April 30, 2021, and all resumes and cover letters can be emailed to: byouthdevelopment@novascotia.ca

Please feel free to share this information throughout the community, any organizations you know of, and those who will benefit from this program. If you, or anyone has any question feel free to reach out to me via email.

Kind regards,

Victoria Riley
